Dormer addition into existing log home
This dormer addition completely transformed the upper level of a log home, creating more headroom, natural light, and a balanced exterior that complements the home’s style.
The project involved modifying an existing truss roof — a complex process that required careful planning and precise execution. The approved design was reviewed by a structural engineer before construction began. Simon built custom rafters to replace the trusses, providing the strength and support needed for the new dormer.
He also reconfigured several windows on the first floor, changing their size and placement to align with the new second-story windows. The result is a cohesive design that ties both levels together beautifully, with all structural and aesthetic details handled with care.
This project stands out for its craftsmanship and the level of detail required to complete it safely and accurately — a true example of Sunrise Builders’ experience and capability with complex renovations.
